Ubisoft postpones The Division beta test until early 2016
The beta test for Tom Clancy’s The Division has been postponed to early 2016. The test was originally scheduled for December on Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A small-scale alpha test on Xbox One will still take place from December 9-12.
The closed alpha test is open to users who pre-ordered the Xbox One version of The Division, but without a pre-order they also have a chance to get in if they join the waiting list. However, a pre-order of this version is also no guarantee that players will actually get access to the test, says Ubisoft Massive. The test is primarily intended to test the online infrastructure on which the game runs in real-world usage conditions. “We can’t replicate that internally or at a trade show,” says the development team. Anyone who manages to gain access to the alpha will receive a non-disclosure agreement and a 23.2GB download. This version of the game includes the pvp areas, but also “more than that,” according to the developers.
For early 2016 beta testing, pre-ordering the game also does not constitute a guarantee of access. However, the chance is greater than when players are placed on the waiting list without a pre-order. It is unknown when that test will start. It is also not clear at which points of sale a pre-order of the game applies as a ticket for the beta. However, the game can be ordered directly from Ubisoft itself, which guarantees the inclusion of such pre-order bonuses. The beta test is being held on Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. After several postponements, Ubisoft is now releasing The Division on March 8, 2016.
Recently, Ubisoft also held a beta test for Rainbow Six Siege. Shortly before opening this beta to everyone, it was postponed due to issues with the game’s online infrastructure. When the beta finally opened up, the problems appeared to persist. The game has since been released and these problems seem to have been solved.
