Ubisoft postpones release of extreme sports mmo Riders Republic until later this year
Ubisoft has delayed the release of Riders Republic. This massively multiplayer online sports game should have been released at the end of next month, but it is scheduled to be released sometime later this year.
Ubisoft Annecy, the Riders Republic development team, writes in a statement that the postponement will provide additional time for the team to create the best experience for the players. There is no further explanation and no new release date has yet been announced.
Riders Republic gives players the opportunity to ski, snowboard, mountain bike or fly a wingsuit in what Ubisoft describes as a “huge multiplayer playground.” On PC and next-gen consoles, there is support for displays of more than 50 players. Riders Republic consists of an open game world with different landscapes, such as deserts and snowy mountains.
The game is made by Ubisoft Annecy. This studio was previously responsible for the winter sports game Steep. Riders Republic will eventually be released for Windows via the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store, but the game will also be released for Google Stadia as part of Ubisoft’s Uplay+ subscription. The game will also be released for the Xbox One and the PS4, and therefore the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.
