Ubisoft postpones Anno 1800 release to April 16
Ubisoft has announced that the strategy game Anno 1800 will be released on April 16. This delays the release of the game again. The game should have hit stores at the end of 2018, but that was postponed to February 26, 2019.
The publisher said in a statement that the new delay until April 16 provides additional time for the development team to further improve Anno 1800 based on the findings of players and the upcoming betas. The publisher does not state why that extra time is necessary. Developer Blue Byte opened registrations for a closed beta in December last year, which starts on January 31 and runs for several days.
Anno 1800 was announced in August 2017 during the Gamescom fair in Cologne, Germany. A year later, it was announced that the game had been postponed to February 26, without giving a reason.
The latest strategy game in the Anno series is set in the 19th century, in the Victorian era. Industrialization plays a major role in the game, including steam engines. Players can build cities and metropolises, and set up expeditions, for example to South America.
