Ubisoft opens new studios in Berlin and Bordeaux
Ubisoft opens two new European studios that will work on AAA games. The locations in Berlin and Bordeaux must accommodate 100 new employees within a year.
The new Ubisoft Berlin will work closely with Blue Byte, which has teams in Düsseldorf and Mainz. That German game studio, known for games like The Settlers and the Anno series, was acquired by Ubisoft in 2001. The new studio is working with Blue Byte on an “unannounced project in one of Ubisoft’s most popular AAA series,” according to Ubisoft. In the first year, the team of the new studio should grow to fifty employees.
The new Ubisoft Bordeaux studio will collaborate with other Ubisoft studios on games originating in France. The publisher cites Just Dance, Steep and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands as examples.
The two new studios have numerous open positions for game developers, designers and testers. Ubisoft has several studios worldwide. The originally French company already had four studios in its home country and two game studios in Germany. Ubisoft is the publisher and creator of the Tom Clancy, Far Cry, Assassins Creed and Watch Dogs games, among others.
