Ubisoft announces that the Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time remake is no longer being developed by Ubisoft’s Mumbai and Pune studios. Instead, Ubisoft Montreal will take on the development.

Ubisoft has announced that the two studios in India are no longer responsible for making the Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time remake. The game company says Ubisoft Montreal will take the lead and will “build on the work of Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai.” It’s not clear why development of the remake is being taken away from the studios.

The company will not disclose whether this will affect the release of the remake. The game was supposed to be released in 2021, but was delayed. Ubisoft has not stated a concrete release date for the game since the postponement.

Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time was released in 2003. The game was well received and breathed new life into the series. The first part in the series is from the 1980s. The last game in the series is Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands from 2010.
