Ubisoft is also releasing five current-gen games for PS5 and Xbox Scarlett

Ubisoft has confirmed that the company will release at least five games for next-gen consoles in the 2021 fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. Hatch.

Among the five games that Ubisoft plans to release in the next fiscal year are Rainbow Six Quarantine, Watch Dogs: Legion and Gods & Monsters, IGN writes. The company will also release two games that have not yet been announced during this period. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says the five games will “come to both current and next-generation consoles.” The games will “take full advantage of the new features introduced with upcoming consoles.”

“Players will experience better frame rates among other things, so the new machines offer a lot of good elements,” says Guillemot. He won’t say when the games will be released exactly, but they are not expected to be released until later in the fiscal year, as the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett are both only released at the end of 2020. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett will feature hardware from AMD, including a Navi GPU with hardware accelerated ray tracing. It is not yet clear whether the games will support ray tracing on consoles. Watch Dogs: Legion will at least support Nvidia’s RTX on PC.

Guillemot tells investors that it is conducive to release games around the release of new consoles, despite the low installed base. According to the CEO, this is because the number of console owners is increasing as time goes on, allowing the games to be sold continuously to new users. Ubisoft had a similar strategy around the release of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch Dogs both came out on two different console generations.

Ubisoft last month postponed Watch Dogs: Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Gods & Monsters all three after its latest game, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, was poorly received by critics and consumers. These three games were supposed to be released in the first half of 2020, but are now due out in fiscal year 2021. Ubisoft then also lowered its profit expectations for the rest of the 2020 fiscal year. The company now seems to be fully focused on next year.
