Ubisoft has stopped a hack that attempted to steal 900GB of data
Ubisoft thwarted a hack last week that reportedly aimed to steal 900GB of files. The hacker is said to have penetrated the internal services of the gaming company.
Ubisoft is said to have denied access 48 hours after the hacker managed to gain access to the company’s internal tools. This is what data security platform VX-Underground writes in a post on X. The person had reportedly planned to steal user data from Rainbow Six Siege, but was allegedly unable to do so in time. The intruder did manage to search the internal Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, MongoDB and Confluence environments. VX-Underground shares some edited screenshots that the hacker allegedly shared.
It is not clear how this person managed to gain access to Ubisoft’s internal services, or whether they managed to steal some sensitive data. Against Bleeping Computer confirms the gaming company that a ‘data security incident’ has occurred and that the company is conducting an investigation. No further information is given.
