Ubisoft gets almost as much revenue from Switch games as it does from Xbox One games
Nintendo Switch game sales accounted for 19 percent of Ubisoft’s revenue in the quarter. That’s pretty much the same as Xbox One sales, which brought in 20 percent of sales.
Ubisoft released Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for the Nintendo Switch in September. Although the publisher does not mention sales figures, it can be concluded from the quarterly figures that the game is selling well. The game has generated a large part of the turnover. Furthermore, the publisher says that Assassin’s Creed: Origins sold twice as much in the first ten days as its predecessor Syndicate. A number of them do not mention Ubisoft.
Ubisoft is getting more and more revenue from digital sales. In the first half of this year, more than half of that, 175 million euros, came from ‘recurring expenses’. This concerns the purchase of DLC and in-game items. Turnover from digital sales of full games amounted to 168 million euros in the same period.
Quarterly turnover amounted to 264 million euros, much more than the set target of 190 million. According to the publisher, this is due to good sales of Ghost Recon Wildlands and Rainbow Six Siege in addition to the Switch game. Ubisoft says 25 million people play Rainbow Six Siege every month.
