Major Ubisoft AAA games for consoles will cost $70 in the future, says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. In doing so, the company follows other major game makers, who have also implemented a price increase of 10 dollars. In practice, 70 dollars equates to 80 euros.

Skull & Bones already received a US suggested retail price of $70. Guillemot confirms against Axios that ‘some games’ get the same price as ‘the competition’. “The big AAA games will cost $70.” An example of a game that won’t cost $70 is Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This game has a suggested retail price of $50 as this is a smaller game, confirms the company to IGN.

With the arrival of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, some publishers decided to increase the price of games. For example, Sony increased the suggested retail price from 70 to 80 euros, in the US the increase was from 60 to 70 dollars. Take-Two, Activision Blizzard and Gearbox followed suit, but Ubisoft previously indicated that it had not yet made a decision. Some companies say they are raising prices because game development has become more expensive in recent years.
