A two-hour documentary about the creation of God of War has appeared on YouTube. The film was made during the five years Santa Monica Studios worked on the PlayStation 4 game.
According to Sony, the film took three years to complete and 400 hours of footage was used. The aim of the film is to show how such a game is made and how the people behind the story deal with it.
The documentary focuses primarily on the “huge effort” the studio has made to revive God of War. The game took a new direction; main character Kratos shows himself vulnerable in the game and has to take care of his son.
God of War came out in April last year. The game was received positively by players and reviewers and won many awards, including five Bafta Game Awards. Five million copies were sold within a month of its release. The game has an average score on Metacritic of 94 points.
