Twitter’s new hate messages policy goes into effect on November 22 22
Twitter has said it will tighten its policy on messages containing hateful content or incitement to violence from November 22. Twitter previously announced that it would introduce these changes as of November 3.
The social networking site made the announcement via a message on the Twitter Safety account. From November 22, Twitter will pay closer attention to groups that glorify violence, or people who post hate messages or display symbols of hate. Twitter follows earlier announcements of a stricter policy.
Incidentally, Twitter had previously indicated that it would tackle hate groups. The changes should go into effect on November 3, but the social networking site now states that in the meantime it has received valuable feedback on which it has adjusted its policies. On Friday, another part of the new Twitter policy went into effect, which mainly concerns ‘nude images without permission’. Examples of this are so-called upskirt photos, which are posted without permission.
Twitter has been thinking about policy changes for some time now. The social networking site has been criticized in recent years for allowing users to freely post hate content or other types of extremist messages. So Twitter now wants to do something about it. In addition, it takes measures against organizations that place politically tinted advertisements.
