Twitter to unveil new video service within weeks
Twitter is set to officially unveil a new video service in a few weeks. The service should make it possible for Twitter users to upload and share video clips directly from the Twitter app.
Re/code reports this based on anonymous sources who are said to be aware of Twitter’s plans. The website also reports that Twitter wants to limit the length of videos. The social network service is said to have experimented with a maximum length of 20 seconds.
It has been known for some time that Twitter is working on its own video service; At the beginning of this month, Twitter already posted information about the new feature on its website. There was talk of a limit of 10 minutes. There would also be no editing and advertising options available at the time of release.
Twitter hopes to attract more users with the introduction of videos on its own platform. The social network service already owns the Vine app, in which videos with a length of up to six seconds can be shared.
