Twitter starts rolling out new profile pages with an emphasis on photos
Twitter seems to have quietly started rolling out a new interface, addressing the profile pages. Users get bigger profile pictures and wider headers, while the posted messages are shown with a card-like interface.
The changes appear to be being phased in and were noticed by a Mashable employee. The site also gives an example of how the profile pages will look like. What is striking is that there is a large profile picture placed on the left, while the header picture spans the entire top lengthwise. Mashable does not report whether other parts of the interface have been changed in addition to the profile pages.
In the new design, messages posted on the profile page are no longer shown below each other. Instead, the messages are presented as cards, similar to how Google does on its social networking site Plus. In addition, the posted messages are displayed larger than before.
Twitter recently came up with a new interface, mainly adjusting the menu bar at the top. Some time ago, more emphasis was placed on showing photos and other content. With the new profile pages, Twitter is continuing this design style. With the innovations, the social networking site seems to want to compete with sites such as Instagram. However, it is still unclear when the roll-out of the new profile pages should be complete: Twitter has not announced anything about this yet.
