Twitter rolls out pinned DMs to all users
Twitter has introduced a new feature for all its users: pinned DM conversations. It allows Twitterers to pin up to six private DM conversations to the top of their inboxes. The feature was previously only available to Twitter Blue subscribers.
Users who want to pin a conversation to the inbox should tap a contact’s profile picture in their inbox and then swipe right to see the pin icon. Once they select that, the conversation with that particular contact will appear at the top in a separate pinned conversations subsection. The maximum number of pinned conversations is six, according to Twitter. The feature is rolling out to Twitter’s Android, iOS, and web app.
Twitter continues to tinker with its platform. In early February, Twitter users were given access to a downvote test that the company uses to determine whether downvotes help users see relevant tweets. The downvotes are not visible to others, are used by the platform’s algorithm and only work on comments on tweets. They will appear to the right of the like button. According to data miner Jane Manchun Wong, Twitter is also working on a new feature called Twitter Articles. This feature would allow users to write longer articles on the platform.
