Twitter reverses blocking of Substack URLs

Twitter has largely reversed the blocking of Substack URLs. Users can repost, like and retweet URLs from Substack. Searching for Substack is still not possible on the platform.

Twitter blocks interaction with Substack links Twitter blocked Substack on its own platform because it tried to download a large portion of Twitter’s database, according to the company for their own Notes feature. Substack denies that and Twitter has not further substantiated the claim. Substack is a platform for writers to publish paid newsletters.

Users can post, like and retweet links from Substack again. In addition, the warning is gone when clicking on a link from Substack. Those who search for the word ‘Substack’ on Twitter will still get results for the search for the word ‘newsletter’.

Substack says it’s happy that the blockade is over. It also emphasizes that Notes will not be a replacement for existing social networks, but a new kind of platform within the newsletter’s own environment.
