Twitter puts note under tweets from politicians when rules are broken

From Thursday, Twitter will no longer delete tweets from politicians who violate the rules for using the social network. The company does provide them with a note that they are breaking the rules. In addition, users do not see the tweets by default.

It will probably be rare that Twitter will mark tweets with the note, says the company. This must be a tweet that the American social network would normally delete, but that comes from a politician and must therefore remain available for public debate. Now there’s nothing on it if Twitter decides to keep tweets.

Twitter is trying to prevent the spread of the tweet. For example, after marking it will only appear for users in the chronological timeline and not in the default algorithmic version. It also does not appear for searches with Safe Search on. In addition, it will no longer appear with notifications.

The annotation will be able to appear on tweets from Thursday, but Twitter will not put them on previously sent tweets that were in violation but still remained. It only concerns tweets from verified accounts of politicians with more than 100,000 followers.
