Twitter had a good quarter, seeing its daily user base grow by 5 million. It also made a profit of approximately $37 million. Last year, the company lost many users.

The company has provided an overview of its quarterly figures in a letter to shareholders, which has also been put online. It shows that the number of users who log in to the service daily has increased from 134 million in the previous quarter to 139 million in the past quarter. That is an increase of 14 percent compared to the same quarter last year. Incidentally, Twitter lists monetizable users, which means that it only counts users to whom it can also show advertisements.

Financially good results were also recorded. Profit came in at approximately $37 million, on revenue of $841 million. Revenue last year was $711 million, which is an increase of 18 percent.

The user increase is good news for the company, after it lost many users last year. This was mainly because Twitter itself removed accounts, for example because it was about fake accounts.
