Twitter officially announces paid subscription to Twitter Blue
Last month, the Twitter Blue subscription was already leaked by the well-known data miner Jane Machun Wong. Now Twitter has officially announced the subscription. Twitter Blue will cost EUR 2.38 per month and will be released first in Canada and Australia.
The Twitter subscription does indeed include the previously leaked features. Including an undo tweet function and folders for bookmarks. In a blog post Twitter describes the components and plans of the Twitter Blue subscription.
With the undo tweet button, a tweet can be published with a delay and can be edited before a timer expires. This can take up to 30 seconds. After publication, the tweet can no longer be changed, just like now.
In addition, Twitter Blue subscribers will have the option to save tweets in bookmark folders. This should allow users to better store and organize messages. Subscribers also get access to a reading mode, in which the ‘noise’ is removed according to Twitter and you can better read longer Twitter conversations.
The blog post does not mention anything about the possible hiding of advertisements. According to the earlier rumor, there would also be different types of subscriptions. The company has not disclosed anything about it.
Initially, Twitter Blue will only be available to users in Canada and Australia. Nothing is reported about a release in other countries, but Twitter does write that this is the first phase of the subscription service.
