Twitter notifies users when ‘like’ tweet that has tag
Twitter has begun to notify users when users want to like a tweet that has a label containing disputed information. The step is to prevent the spread of such tweets.
Twitter already gave users a notification when retweeting with their own comments and that is happening now according to Twitter thanks to that step 29 percent less. That is the reason to also give the message when liking a tweet, something that happens on Twitter by clicking the heart.
This notification consists of an exclamation mark stating that the information in the tweet is disputed, with a link to more information. There are also buttons to continue or to cancel liking or retweeting.
The report is one of the steps Twitter is taking to prevent the spread of disinformation on its platform. Twitter cites the corona pandemic, the US presidential election and ‘synthetic media’ as reasons why the report is necessary.
Update, 10:26 AM: It said in this article that it was the “misleading” label, but that’s another label that Twitter uses. This is the ‘disputed’ label.
