Twitter adds ‘quality filter’ to hide bot’s tweets

Twitter introduces a ‘quality filter’ for tweets on its social network. This means that reactions from bots, for example, must remain hidden from users. The filter is turned off by default and is an option in the settings.

Twitter isn’t clear about what it wants with the filter. The social network say just that it wants to give users more control over what they see and who they interact with on the social network. The filter mainly works for notifications, but Twitter says it can also filter search results, for example.

In addition to the filter, there is an option to only be notified of tweets from accounts you follow. The options can be found under a new ‘Settings’ button on the notifications tab. Twitter says it has been experimenting with the filter since last year, which, among other things, removes duplicate tweets, looks at the origin of an account and the tweets that the account posts.
