Twitch releases application for Android TV
Twitch has announced an app for the television operating system Android TV. With the application it is possible to watch live streams of gamers. At the same time, Twitch comes with an update for its mobile chat service Whisper.
The application for Android TV was announced on Twitch’s blog. The software allows users to do more or less the same things on their television as they do with the other applications that Twitch has released. It is of course possible to watch live streams of game sessions, but there is also support for following channels and games. Video is transmitted in a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and with a frame rate of 60fps.
The mobile application Whisper will also receive new features. Whisper is the chat app that Twitch released some time ago. Version 2.0 has, according to the maker, an ‘improved chat experience’. This allows users to quickly view their private messages, but otherwise the maker does not explain the changes in detail. The update comes as no surprise: the beta test had already started earlier and Twitch had announced that it would release the renewed application in December. The Whisper application can be downloaded for the Android operating system.
