Twitch ends the free karaoke game Twitch Sings after less than two years
Twitch Sings, the karaoke game from streaming website Twitch.tv where streamers and their subscribers can sing songs together, will be discontinued on January 1. The Amazon subsidiary’s service was introduced less than two years ago.
As of December 1, the site will start removing saved videos from Twitch Sings. That process was completed on January 1. Anyone who wants to be sure that their footage is preserved must therefore have a backup of everything before December 1. The wording of Twitch also seems to indicate that larger broadcasts that include Twitch Sings segments are also being removed.
The game was developed by Harmonix, who made Rock Band and its many variants in the past, and was released in the second half of 2018. Singers were represented in-game by their webcam stream on a large screen in the virtual concert hall, or by a three-dimensional avatar on stage. Besides duets, the game also has the option to request and it can be played on PC, iOS and Android.
Before the lights go out for Twitch Sings, the Amazon subsidiary will release up to 400 new songs to play in the last four months, according to Eurogamer.
