Twitch Announces Desktop App Beta

Streaming platform Twitch has announced the arrival of its own desktop app. This means that users must, among other things, be able to have conversations with each other. The beta of the app will start on March 16.

In the announcement, the company states that the new service is the result of the acquisition of Curse in the summer of last year. One of the innovations is that users can set up their own server using the app. For example, the viewers of certain streamers can communicate with each other when the channel is not online. This can be done via chats and voice messages between two or more people.

There is also the option of screen sharing, which is often an option in other communication platforms such as Skype. The integration of Curse’s services is reflected in the provision of a platform for add-ons and mods. According to Twitch, players should be able to sync downloaded add-ons and mods between different systems. This feature is not yet available at release. Enabling overlays is also an option.

Twitch has announced several new features in recent weeks. For example, in February, the company introduced plans to sell games through its platform. This feature should also be integrated into the desktop app. This week, Twitch also released Pulse, which should propose its own news feed.
