Trial version Windows 10 allows users to set refresh rate more easily

An Insider build of Windows 10 shows an option to change a monitor’s refresh rate in the Settings app. Until now, changing the refresh rate in Windows 10 was through a more deeply hidden Screen Adapter menu.

The option is under Advanced Display Settings in the new build, Microsoft says. It has version number 20236. There is a dropdown with various options for the refresh rate per monitor. Microsoft says little about it, except that the options shown depend on the screens used.

Until now, the adjustment of the refresh rate is under Properties of Display adapter in the Settings and opens a menu where the refresh rate can be changed under the screen tab. The new option should make switching between refresh rates easier.

Microsoft always shows features first in the Insider build and only releases them later in stable versions of Windows. That often happens with one of the two major updates Windows 10 gets in a year. Since it is a build in the Dev Channel, this feature will probably not appear in a stable version of Windows until next year.
