TP Vision is releasing three new televisions, including two high-end OLED+ models. The company will also equip a number of models with the new Titan OS operating system. This will result in video advertisements in streams, which cannot be turned off.

TP Vision releases the Philips Oled+959 and the cheaper Oled+909. These are two Ambilight models with a META OLED panel with micro lens array technology, which was also used in the 908 model last year. Now it is a second generation META 2.0 panel, which can achieve a brightness of 3000cd/m². The difference between the Oled+959 and 909 is partly in the way they use Ambilight; While the 909 model has standard Ambilight lighting on four sides, the Oled+959 model gets a new technology called Ambilight Plus by TP Vision. TP Vision promises that by using lenses over the Ambilight LEDs, a more dynamic atmospheric image can be displayed on the wall behind the TV.

Both models also have an eighth-generation P5-AI processor, but the more expensive 959 model also has Ambient Intelligence V3 technology. The sound system is also different. The top model has a 5.1.2 102W sound system from Bowers & Wilkins, but the 909 model has a 3.1 81W sound system from the same manufacturer. The Oled+959 will be released in the third quarter of this year; the Oled+909 will be available in June. Prices for both models are not yet known.

TP Vision is releasing another OLED television: the Oled809. This is a midrange model that will be available in sizes of 42″, 48″, 55″, 65″ and 77″. The 809 models have an OLED-EX panel from LG Display, with a peak brightness of 1300cd/m². The TVs have support for 144Hz VRR and a 70W 2.1 sound system. All OLED televisions use Google TV as a smart TV platform, just like last year.

LED LCD models

TP Vision is also launching a new mini LED model, the PML9009, which has the marketing name The Xtra. It comes in four sizes from 55″ to 85″. The PML 9009 has a 144Hz refresh rate panel that can display 98 percent of the DCI-WCG color spectrum and has a maximum brightness of 1000cd/m². Finally, the company is releasing a new version of The One, which has the type number PUS8909. This should again be an affordable all-rounder, with a 144Hz LCD panel between 43″ and 75″. The PUS8909 also has Ambilight support on three sides.

Titan OS

TP Vision provides the new versions of The One and The Extra of a new operating system called Titan OS. Titan OS SL is a new, independent company led from Spain by Jacinto Roca, who was previously CEO of Rakuten TV. In the leadership team also includes Rick Fens and Daan van Baars, both of whom worked for TP Vision until the beginning of this month. Although Titan OS is being introduced as a new company, with which TP Vision is now the first party to enter into an agreement, there are clear lines between both companies.

Titan OS is explicitly marketed as an alternative to Google TV. It should give television manufacturers more control over their TVs and, unlike Google TV, the opportunity to earn from advertising.

Last year, that was also the reason why TP Vision introduced the Philips Smart TV platform on the 2023 model of The Extra as a real counterpart to Google TV. That Philips Smart TV-branded platform is now disappearing and in its place is Titan OS. When asked, TP Vision informed us that Titan OS is really a completely new system, although the interface and the icons used are very similar to the Philips Smart TV platform.

What is striking about Titan OS is that companies can advertise in it with not only recommendations based on user behavior, but also by ‘Instream ads‘ that are playing while watching free streaming services. That is comparable to mid-roll ads on YouTube. Consumers can opt out of tracking in the streams, but not the streams themselves.
