TP-Link starts sales of WiFi mesh system Deco M5 on May 15
TP-Link will release May 15 with the Deco M5 Wi-Fi mesh network system. A bundle of three units has a suggested retail price of 299 euros. TP-Link has provided the system with integrated security from Trend Micro.
TP-Link announced the Deco M5 system internationally in January and has now announced that delivery will start on May 15, while pre-orders can be placed from May 1. This is a so-called multi-room Wi-Fi system that must provide coverage in entire homes.
With three units an area of 420m2 can be served, but the system can be expanded to a maximum of ten router units for a greater range. TP-Links Adaptive Routing Technology automatically optimizes the network and connections between the units, but the user can also set how the bandwidth should be used, for example by prioritizing applications such as gaming or video chatting.
Management and parental controls can be done via the mobile app and the manufacturer has built in a security suite from Trend Micro with firewall and malware protection, TP-Link HomeCare. It can be used for free for up to three years after purchase, after which a monthly subscription must be purchased. “If customers do not choose this option, some functions may stop working or operate with limited capacity,” TP-Link reports.
