Toyota and Alonso tackle historic victory at Le Mans
Toyota yesterday yesterday at 3:00 pm car racing history was written by being the first Japanese brand to achieve a 1-2 victory in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Toyota TS050 Hybrid with start number 8 of Toyota GAZOO Racing has completed the most rounds on the 13,626 km long Circuit de la Sarthe after a 24-hour race of all 60 participants, namely 388. The team did so with an average speed of no less than 248, 2 kilometers per hour.
Formula 1 drivers
The Toyota TS050 Hybrid that won Le Mans 2018 of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2018-2019 was driven by drivers Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso. All three drivers have experience in Formula 1; for newcomer Alonso (current Formula 1 driver for McLaren) it was the first time at Le Mans.
