Toshiba: Risk of fire with laptop adapters sold between 2009 and 2011
Toshiba has initiated a recall for certain adapters sold with laptop computers between 2009 and 2011 and provided with repairs. These are models with two pins; they are a fire hazard. Three-pin instances pose no risk.
The warning can be found via the Product Warning site and via a page of Toshiba itself. There, users can manually enter the part number and serial number of their adapter to verify that it belongs to the product group at risk. It is also possible to check with a list which adapter and laptop models are at risk.
According to Toshiba, these are adapters sold with new laptops between 2009 and 2011, mainly Satellite and Dynabook models. Only instances with two pins would pose a danger. That is not the case with three-pin ones. Affected users can receive a replacement adapter for free, according to the manufacturer.
