Toshiba launches OCZ RD400 series NVME SSDs

Toshiba has presented a new series of SSDs under the OCZ brand name. The RD400 series consists of NVME SSDs, with capacities from 128GB to 1024GB. Toshiba sells the drives as individual M2 SSDs, but also comes with kits including a PCIe-x4 adapter.

According to Toshiba, the OCZ RD400 SSDs achieve read and write speeds of up to 2600MB/s and 1600MB/s respectively. Getting the most out of the drives requires an m2 slot that supports such speeds. However, users who do not have a fast m2 slot on their motherboard can also opt for a kit with pcie-x4 adapter. The m2-ssd is then inserted into a plug-in card, which is placed in a pcie-x4 slot on the motherboard. In this way, the speed can also be used with older hardware.

The m2 SSDs have a 2280 form factor and can also be used in laptops. There are variants of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1024GB. Toshiba uses mlc-nand memory for the ssds and gives a five-year warranty. The RD400 series is available immediately. As a separate m2-ssd, the models have a suggested retail price from 129.99 euros for the 128GB version to 824.99 euros for the 1024GB copy. The versions including a pcie adapter cost 149.99 euros to 849.99 euros.
