Toshiba introduces two new multimedia laptops

Toshiba has announced two multimedia laptops. The Qosmio X70 and Satellite P70 have a 17.3″ screen with full HD resolution, a Core i7 quad-core and a Radeon R9 265X video card, but the Qosmio has a different look, a Blu-ray drive and more video memory.

In terms of specifications, the new Qosmio X70 and Satellite P70 are almost identical. Both laptops have a 17.3″ screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a maximum brightness of 300cd/m². Both models also come in configurations with Core i7 quad-cores from Intel, there is a maximum of 1TB storage capacity when choosing an SSD. or 2TB with a hard drive without flash cache and Toshiba provides the laptops with a maximum of 16GB DDR3L RAM.

The Qosmio and Satellite also have HDMI 2.0, a duo of USB 2.0 ports and two USB 3.0 variants, VGA, an SDHC memory card reader and support for dual-band WiFi-AC and Bluetooth 4.0. The laptops run Windows 8.1 and have speakers from audio manufacturer Harman Kardon. The thickness in both cases is 28.4mm at the thinnest and 33.1mm at the thickest point, and the weight is 2.9 kilos.

The differences are in the housing; the Qosmio is black with striking red accents and the Satellite is gray and gold. The Qosmio also has a blu-ray drive and the Satellite has to make do with a DVD drive. Finally, the R9 M265X video card has 4GB in the Qosmio and 2GB gddr5 in the Satellite. The Qosmio X70-B-102 and Satellite P70-B-102 will be available from the end of November. The Qosmio X70 gets a suggested retail price of 1299 euros; with the Satellite P70 that is 1199 euros.
