Toshiba introduces budget SSDs in OCZ TL100 line
Toshiba has announced a new series of SATA SSDs in the entry-level segment. The OCZ SSDs are based on TLC memory and are available in a 120 and 240 GB variant. The price is 45 euros for the 120GB version, while the 240GB variant will cost 65 euros.
The SSDs are equipped with a Toshiba memory controller and have a write speed of 550MB/s and a read speed of 530MB/s, the company promises on the product page. With both drives, the advertised random-read performance is 85,000 iops and random-write performance is 80,000 iops. Toshiba goes on to say that the drives can be written to with 30TB and 60TB of data respectively before giving up the ghost, which equates to 27GB and 54GB per day over a three-year period.
With suggested retail prices of 45 euros for 120GB and 65 euros for the 240GB variant, the company focuses on the cheapest segment of SSDs. The TL100 line thus occupies a place next to the TR150 and below that of the VX500; Toshiba announced this latest midrange line earlier this month. It is not yet known when the TL100 SSDs will be available.
