Toshiba comes with security camera with integrated Alexa speaker
Toshiba has announced the Symbio, a combination between a security camera, which can record both images and audio, and a smart speaker with Alexa integration. It is still unclear when the device will be available, but the manufacturer may tell more about it at the CES fair.
According to Toshiba, the Symbio has a number of different functions. In addition to being able to function as a security camera and as a smart Alexa speaker, Symbio can detect sounds and acts as an intercom. However, the security camera seems to be the main feature of the device, with the ability to record video with a wide-angle lens and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
Thanks to Alexa support, the Symbio can be controlled with voice commands. In addition, links can be made with other smart devices in and around the house, such as sensors and household appliances. The intercom functionality works by making connections with smartphones, after which you can talk to each other.
Symbio monitors the house through built-in motion sensors, after which video recordings can be started that can also be streamed to a smartphone. The sound sensors can pick up sudden sounds, such as those from smoke detectors, after which a notification can be sent.
It is not yet clear when the Symbio will be available, but the device can be seen during the CES fair in Las Vegas. Toshiba has not yet announced a price.
