Torrent search engine Torrentz.eu stops for unknown reason
The meta torrent search engine Torrentz.eu has stopped. Why is as yet unclear. Since Friday morning, a search only yields the farewell text “Torrentz will always love you. Farewell.” on.
The site itself still shows the search field, but below it talks about itself in the past tense: ‘Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta search engine that combined the results of dozens of different search engines’.
Users of the site with a login can no longer log in. They also see the goodbye message. Torrentfreak did get in touch with the site administrator, but he did not want to say anything about closing the service at that time.
Torrentz.eu was registered as Torrentz.com on July 15, 2003, two months before The Pirate Bay was launched. It was due to move permanently to the .eu domain in 2011 as the US authorities claimed several torrent sites within the .com domain. The service is also no longer available via the other backup domains.
The site’s shutdown comes just weeks after the KickassTorrents administrator’s arrest. This site has since been down.
