TomTom now also supports Galaxy S III and HTC One X
TomTom has added support for high-end phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X by updating its Android application. Initially, these and other phones were not supported because TomTom could not handle high resolutions.
The new TomTom app carries version number 1.1 and can be downloaded immediately from the Play store discovered All About Phones. According to TomTom, the update offers support for screen resolutions between 800×400 and 1280×800 pixels. As a result, smartphones with a 720p screen are now supported, including the Galaxy S III and One X.
Also new is that TomTom can now store map data on the SD card of the device on which it is installed. The company has also indicated that the download mechanism for new map data has been improved, making it more reliable. The next update with updated map data should be released this month, according to TomTom.
TomTom is suitable for Android versions 2.2 and higher and costs almost 35 euros. There must be a minimum of 470MB of free space to use the application. TomTom for Android came out in October, after being delayed several times.
