Time Person of the Year is Greta Thunberg

Climate activist Greta Thunberg is through the magazine Time proclaimed Person of the Year 2019. According to Time, the young woman is “the most engaging voice in the most important problem facing our planet”. She is also the youngest Person of the Year ever at the age of 16.

It all started with Thunberg and her sign with “Skolstrejk för klimatet” and it became a movement. This year and last year, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has been in the news frequently about the climate protests of young people. Her conviction knows how to inspire many people to participate in climate actions. Actions that led to various technology companies setting new sustainability rules in September.

Thunberg campaigned by skipping school to protest, but also called on other young people to do the same. It generated so much publicity and followers that the strong Thunberg eventually even met with the UN Secretary-General to talk about the future of the world. For example, during the UN climate summit on 23 September in New York, she said: “The eyes of all future generations are focused on you. And if you choose to disappoint us, I will tell you: we will never forgive you.”
