‘Tim Cook emails customer: Apple will start delivering Airpods in the coming weeks’
Apple will start shipping its Airpods wireless earbuds in the coming weeks. That is what director Tim Cook said in an e-mail to a customer who asked him about it. Cook has previously answered emails from random customers.
The email’s headers show that the message is from Apple’s headquarters, but MacRumors draws nevertheless indicates that it is still possible that the email is fake. Cook allegedly emailed the customer: “Sorry for the delay. We’re finishing them up and I’m counting on deliveries starting in the next few weeks.” The customer had asked when the Airpods would become available.
Apple presented the Airpods at the same time as the iPhone 7 in September, but the manufacturer postponed the release of the Bluetooth earphones in October until further notice for an undisclosed reason. The American company has since not said when the product would come out.
The AirPods, which cost 179 euros, connect to smartphones via Bluetooth and have a processor on board with the W1 chip for processing input. They have microphones so that users can make calls or give voice commands to digital assistant Siri. The battery life of the earphones is 5 hours, but the box also contains battery charge, so that the box and earphones together have a battery life of 25 hours.
