TikTok parent company releases photo app

TikTok parent company ByteDance has released Whee, an app to share photos with contacts and see a feed of photos from contacts only. The app has limited availability, it seems.

The app has been released in a limited number of countries, reports Artem Russakovskii. A VPN connection also does not ensure that users can install the app in an unsupported country. The app has an interface reminiscent of Instagram, but its functionality seems limited to sharing photos with contacts.

Logging in is done with a TikTok account. The app seems to have many similarities with TikTok Notes, an app from the same company that revolves around photo sharing. ByteDance has not commented further on it Appearance of the app in the Play Store.
