TikTok lets parents and children link accounts for control
Social medium TikTok allows parents and children to link their accounts, after which parents can set a maximum screen time for their children. That should prevent children from spending too much time on TikTok, the company says.
In addition to controlling screen time, parents can also restrict who their kids can DM with and decide whether TikTok should not show a certain type of videos, TikTok reports. There will also be reminders in the feed that users should take a break every now and then, the company says.
Managing screen time has been possible for some time, but until now that has to be done from your own account and managing accounts has not been possible at all until now. The feature will be available first in the UK and will be available in other countries in the coming weeks. Whether and when the Family Safety Mode will be available in the Benelux is unknown for the time being. TikTok is most popular among children between the ages of 10 and 13.
