‘TikTok is testing a paid subscription without ads’

TikTok is reportedly working on a paid, ad-free subscription. In the test phase, users from the United States can swipe through their TikTok feed without encountering ads for $5 per month.

Android Authority noted that TikTok offers some users an ad-free subscription, for a price of 5 dollars per month. TikTok has not yet officially released anything about the subscription form.

Because the subscription is not shown to all users in the United States, it appears to be a test. It is not known if and when the ad-free subscription will also be released in other countries. In August, the social media platform added ads to search results.

Other social media are also considering launching an ad-free subscription. For example, Meta would like to release paid versions of Facebook and Instagram. In addition, Elon Musk previously expressed his plans for an ad-free subscription to X, formerly Twitter. According to X Premium subscribers are already seeing ‘about 50 percent fewer ads’ on their timeline.
