Thunderbird enables synchronization of settings with Sync function

Mozilla has implemented an experimental version of a synchronization feature in mail client Thunderbird. Thunderbird Sync is based on Firefox Sync and can synchronize settings such as accounts and address books between different clients.

An experimental version of Thunderbird Sync can be found in the experimental daily build of Thunderbird 110. Maker Mozilla announced last year that such a feature would come.

Thunderbird Sync allows users to create a Mozilla account to sync Thunderbird settings with other email client installations. Thunderbird users can sync their email account settings, their address books, aliases and identities, and calendars. It is also possible to synchronize saved passwords. It is possible to synchronize different components and not.

Thunderbird uses the same technology as Firefox for the feature. This can be seen when setting up, because testers end up on a Mozilla page. It is currently not possible to use a Mozilla account for Firefox for Thunderbird Sync. Users must create a new account. It can be secured in the same ways as a Firefox Sync account.

Thunderbird Sync is expected to be finally implemented in the stable build of the email client in version 114.
