THQ Nordic must ask EA for permission to publish KoA: Reckoning

THQ Nordiq will first need to obtain permission from EA before a remaster or re-release of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning can be published. The publisher still owns the publishing rights of the game.

THQ Nordic said so in an email to Eurogamer. “We know what the burning questions are, remaster, remake, port to current-gen systems, etc., but we’ve decided not to answer them yet. It’s our habit that we get our heads together and do research first. We won’t go public until we’re more familiar with the franchise.” For a sequel to Reckoning and to work on Project Copernicus, THQ Nordic does not need permission from EA. The publisher does not own the rights to these titles.

Last week, the developer bought the Kingdoms of Amalur and Project Copernicus property rights of 38 studios, which have been bankrupt since 2012. This is not the only purchase THQ Nordic has made this year. In February, the company bought Saints Row publisher Koch Media for 121 million euros.
