THQ Nordic Announces Tactical Wild West Game Desperados III

Publisher THQ Nordic will release a new game in the Desperados series next year. It is a tactical game like Commandos, set in the Wild West. The new game is mainly reminiscent of the first part from 2001.

According to the publisher, Desperados III is a modern tactical game, where players control a team of up to five Desperados. THQ Nordic has set up a website and published screenshots on it. Missions in the game can be solved in different ways according to the creators. There is a choice between lethal and non-lethal solutions. The scenarios take place during the day and at night.

Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive was released in 2001. In terms of gameplay, the game was similar to Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines, which was released a few years earlier. In 2006 a second part was released: Desperados: Cooper’s Revenge. Nordic Games acquired the rights to Desperados from Atari in 2013.

According to the makers, the game is “heavily inspired” by the first part and is being developed by Mimimi Games. That German studio previously released Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. Desperados III will be released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A release date has not yet been announced, but the game should be released sometime in 2019.
