This watch makes running with music possible!
Whether you are a fanatical or a recreational runner and / or walker, one thing is in my view an absolute must have: the possibility to listen to music. Of course you have to make a good selection of songs. Think of tasty tempo songs with a good beat in it. Walking with music also gives me some extra distraction, so I am not so focused on my breathing, speed and ultimately the distance to be covered. You walk, as it were, much more relaxed, at least that is my personal opinion. It is important that you have to realize that, especially when you are walking on a cycle path, you hardly hear the coming traffic coming. This can be dangerous.
Music while running
You can, of course, purchase a sports bracelet where you can put your phone. You can of course play all your favorite music via your smartphone. Personally, I always wear my sports watch while running. To be honest, I do not want to take a sports watch and a sports armband with a phone alone while running, just for the music. Many fellow runners solve this by loading a mini mp3 player with music. This mini mp3 player you can easily put in your pocket, so you can leave your relatively heavy and awkward sports armband with your phone at home.
Forerunner 645 Music from Garmin
Early this year Garmin introduced on the CES in Las Vegas the Forerunner 645 Music. The sports watch has a nice slim and stylish design, especially compared to older models of Garmin that are just a bit more robust and bigger. Thanks to this design, I also wear it outside of running.
It is also quite easy to put music on your Forerunner. You connect your sports watch to your computer. You immediately see a disk with 3.5 GB of free space for your music. Your folder with music can be easily copied to your Garmin Forerunner 645 Music. According to Garmin you can put over 500 songs on music. This seems a bit much to me, but believe me, there is room enough for your weekly running. Whether you put this folder on your MP3 player or on your phone, the action remains exactly the same. It is a pity though that you can not use the streaming service Spotify and that you therefore have to have the music available locally. You can, for example, use Deezer.
Once your music is copied to your Garmin sports watch, you can easily pair it with Bluetooth to your headset. Works well and easy. Continuing a song is also easy, so you can just do this while you walk.
Also a sports watch
The Forerunner 645 Music has more functionalities than just listening to music. For example, he has an integrated payment function with GarminPay. When you also purchase a running dynamics sensor or an HRM-Run or HRM-Tri heart rate belt, you can collect an incredible amount of data and then analyze it. Think of Biomechanical data such as cadence, stride length, ground contact time and balance etc. A must do is linking your Forerunner to the free app, Garmin Connect. This synchronizes your personal performance with your phone and you can retrieve, analyze and share statistics. Last but not least, you can also link your sports watch to your phone so that your phone sees calls, messages and various other push notifications coming into your sports watch while running.
Yes, your Forerunner 645 can really take a beating and is also water resistant up to 50 meters. So you can certainly run in the rain or view your results in the shower. You do not have to worry that your battery runs out quickly because of the music function. The battery has a lifespan of 7 days in smartwatch mode and lasts 5 hours when you play music.
