This is how you film and edit a professional video
Whether it is a video of a wedding, school reunion or family celebration, with a beautiful video you create a priceless memory that you often look back with pleasure. But even if you are going to make a professional company video or recording of an event, it is important that you pay attention to a few essential things to make it a success. Of course, it helps if you film the right images in the highest possible quality with a professional camera or just your iPhone. But in addition, it is important to make a logical story with a good video editor. In this article, we’ll tell you what to keep in mind when filming and how to produce a memorable or professional video.
What and for whom are you doing it?
Before you start filming haphazardly, it is good to be clear about what and for whom you are going to make a video. When it comes to a wedding, it is important that you photograph the bridal couple often and as cheaply as possible. In addition, it is extremely important that you capture the guests and especially the immediate family. The location, the wedding cake and the dinner usually require a lot of care, so make sure you take enough shots. This special moment is filmed by many people and from different angles, try to get those images too so that you can process them in your video.
When it comes to a corporate video, you have to deal with completely different criteria. The production process, the protagonists, the business premises, the employees and the story of the company must be well presented. Perhaps texts should also appear on the screen that explain what can be seen and it is concluded with a logo.
What is the goal?
You want to achieve something with a video. The registration of a business networking event is very different from a video of a cozy family reunion. In the first case, it is especially important that the message of, for example, speakers comes across well. For that you have to be able to follow the story well. As an organizer, you may want to give a commercial message if you send the video around to people who were present at the event.
In the case of the family reunion, every family member who has come must be on the film. Perhaps photos will be shown or stories will be recited. Relatives who have not seen each other for years and who fly into each other’s arms. Memories that are retrieved. Old quarrels being settled. Eating and drinking together. It must be a special registration of a special day. In short, think very carefully about the purpose of the video and adjust your way of filming and editing accordingly.
Image, text, and sound
We have already touched on it, a video is more than just the filmed images. With a good video editor you can make texts appear on the screen and let music flow under the video. You might also include a voiceover with an accompanying text that provides the message of the video or explains a few things here and there.
Still, the images are the most important part of any video. Film some things that are important a little longer (to tell the story) and other things that are nice but not essential a little shorter. But also so-called intermediate shots. These are short shots of, for example, the location, a name sign, a work of art in the garden, a flower arrangement. This helps you connect one scene to another without the transition being too abrupt.
