The Witcher 3 for Nintendo Switch runs in 540p resolution in handheld mode
Nintendo recently announced a Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition as part of the E3 trade show in Los Angeles. The makers have now announced that there is a 540p resolution if the game is played without a dock.
On The Witcher’s Twitter account reports the team that in addition to the 540p resolution in handheld mode, there will be 720p once the port of The Witcher 3 is played with the Switch docked. In addition, a dynamic resolution is applied, so that the game should also remain reasonably playable during parts where the hardware has a hard time with the graphical calculations.
Presumably the game will not go beyond thirty frames per second, although the makers have not confirmed that. However, they also let you know that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a storage space of about 32GB which should mean no further downloads are required if the game is purchased in physical form. The team behind the game also reports that there are no savegames that work between multiple platforms; as a result, it is not possible to transfer save games from the PC, PS4 or Xbox One to the Switch and then continue playing.
Nintendo recently announced that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch this year, although no release date has been announced yet. The voice actor of the main character from The Witcher 3 hinted at the arrival of a Switch port of the game earlier this month. The Witcher 3 was released in 2015 for Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
