The Sims and SimCity creator Will Wright shows concept for his nft-based game
Will Wright, creator of SimCity and The Sims, has showcased his “metaverse nft game on the blockchain.” It is striking that Wright says he has nothing to do with selling NFTs. He wants to use the system for “secure transactions between players” instead.
Wright describes his world of VOXverse in a video and in a conversation with Axios. The world is inhabited by the Voxes, already existing nft characters designed by nft platform Gala Games. Wright designed a whole world around that. Because the characters are cube-like, the world will also be a cube, with a different type of biome on each face of the cube. On top of the cube is the capital of the game, on the other surfaces different worlds, such as mountains and oceans. “We don’t talk about the bottom,” Wright says.
Players can buy a piece of land in the world, on which they can place a self-designed building, but it should also be possible to design vehicles and other objects. They can also work, set up businesses and give other Voxes work. If the player is offline, the Vox will remain as an npc. There will also be a relationship system between the different Voxes and players can build a reputation in the game based on the variables liked, trusted, feared and famous. Furthermore, Wright speaks of events in the world, based on music, art and social life.
The game is designed by Will Wright and Lauren Elliott, who created the video game series Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. They work together at the indie game maker Gallium Studios. According to Axios, the “actual production of the game is done at Unity”. That is the company that is also behind the game engine of the same name. A release date for the game is not mentioned.
