The Sims 4 Island Living Expansion Coming to PC June 21
The Sims 4 is getting the Island Life expansion this month that takes the game to the tropical island of Sulani. There, players can engage in more water activities like boating and jet skiing, interact with dolphins, and live like mermaids.
As the title of the expansion suggests, Island Living is about Sims who live and work on a tropical island, EA writes. The island has a friendly atmosphere and the Sims can do many new ‘relaxed’ activities. Players can build sandcastles and sunbathe on the beach or, when they get tired of it, head straight into the sea. There Sims can swim and snorkel, as well as jet ski, make friends with dolphins and ride a boat.
Although the atmosphere on the island is laid back, there is also work to be done. Sims can therefore choose new side jobs with the expansion, such as lifeguard and diving teacher. Catching fish also yields extra money with the expansion. Since there is also garbage pollution on the island, the expansion allows Sims to become conservationists to clean up that garbage, for example. When players choose that job, the island will look more beautiful, EA says. This way more flowers and butterflies appear on the island.
The expansion comes with new clothes, accessories and hairstyles that match the island theme and players can choose to go through life like a mermaid. EA doesn’t reveal much about the mermaids yet, but it is clear that they are made more for marine life than the more human Sims. Ghosts also roam the island and the original islanders also live there. The Sims can get to know its culture and learn, for example, how to make island drink kava. For that island culture, EA claims to have looked at the Polynesian culture.
In terms of houses, players can choose from stilt houses that are close to the sea or buildings that are higher on the island. When Sims have an oceanfront home, they can jump straight off their patio into the water. Sims can also live near the island’s volcano if they wish. That volcano can erupt during the game and spew rock. Finally, the expansion will also include new furniture, such as lounge chairs.
The Sims 4 Island Living comes out on June 21 for Windows and Mac. The extension can now be reserved for 40 euros. Console players will receive the expansion on July 16. EA also announced that a free update will be available on June 18, including clothing dedicated to Pride Month. In the summer there will also be a Stuff Pack with clothing from the Moschino brand and a part-time job as a freelance fashion photographer. Finally, EA announced the Realm of Magic gamepack, which should be released this fall.
