The Pokémon Company has shared a short 50-second trailer of the new Pokémon series that no longer stars Ash Ketchum. The teaser features the new protagonists Liko and Roy, as well as Professor Friede and his partner Captain Pikachu.

The new series will include the Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly from the Scarlet and Violet games. The legendary Pokémon Rayquaza also makes an appearance. Liko, Roy, Friede and Pikachu will go on an “exciting action-packed journey” in the Paldea region, according to the makers.

Last December it was announced that Ash Ketchum – who can finally call himself the very best – will leave the Pokémon series after almost 1,300 episodes. Since 1997, Ash from Pallet Town has been the protagonist of the anime, with his Pokémon Pikachu as a companion. The anime with new protagonists will start on April 14 in Japan. It is not clear when the episodes of the new season will be shown in Europe.
