The Steam page of the space RPG The Outer Worlds, announced in December last year, recently had a release date of August 6 for a short time. It has since been removed again. In any case, the title is yet to be released this year.

The Steam page of The Outer Worlds now only lists 2019 as the release period, but the Steam Database page shows that the August 6 release date was removed a few days ago. Developer Obsidian Entertainment has not officially confirmed this summer release date yet. The title will be released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Set in a dystopian space setting, The Outer Worlds can be described as a science fiction RPG with plenty of shooting from a first-person perspective. The story is about a character who ended up in the Halcyon colony via a spaceship. Here, conglomerates rule and the goal is to rescue other settlers from the spaceship.

The game does not get a huge open world to explore, but has a number of areas that the player can travel to. The developer previously compared this to the way the world from Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is set up. Released in 2004 by Obsidian, this Star Wars title is the successor to BioWare’s original Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.

Obsidian Entertainment announced The Outer Worlds last December. The studio, which was acquired by Microsoft last year, has previously also developed Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity. A number of people from Obsidian were also responsible for the original Fallout as part of Black Isle Studios.
