“The most expensive variant of Huawei Mate 9 Pro will cost $1300”
According to the well-known smartphone lover Evan Blass, the most expensive variant of the unannounced Huawei Mate 9 Pro will cost $1300. He also writes that both the Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro will have 4x optical zoom and 5.9 “screens.
The Mate 9’s 5.9″ screen, which is not curved at the edges, will have a resolution of 1080p. The Mate 9 Pro will have a 5.9″ screen with curved edges and a resolution of 1440 by 2560. This device also has a home button under the screen, while the Mate 9 has nothing there. The increased resolution of the Mate 9 Pro is expected to meet Google’s Daydream spec. The Chinese company was also known to be working on a smartphone suitable for Google’s VR platform.
As previously reported, the two smartphones have Huawei’s own Kirin 960-socs on board. They have four of the new Cortex-A73 cores at 2.4GHz and the soc is baked at 16nm. The two models would also have 4GB of RAM and storage space ranging from 64GB to 256GB.
An earlier leak also made it clear that the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro will be equipped with dual 20-megapixel cameras, just like the P9, which appeared on the market earlier this year. With the possibility of 4x optical zoom, Huawei is not a pioneer; Asus has this in the Zenfone Zoom, for example, although it doesn’t seem to be actually available in Western Europe. Despite the option of optical zoom, the camera of the Mate 9 series hardly seems to protrude from the housing.
Blass writes about the specifications for Venturebeat and places the info about the optical zoom and the price on Twitter. The two smartphone models are said to be unveiled on November 3 at an event in Munich.
